This is my entry for The Anthropomorphic Art Anthology. Xantara (Zan-Tah-rah), the smilodon matriarch. Her name means " Protector of The Earth ";. She fiercely watches over her land on her favourite rock. She seems to be interrupted in this particular image =P

Smilodon skull images were used as reference. For the pelt I went with BBC’s interpretation of the smilodon, as well as some of Mauricio Antons depictions. I wanted to make her match her surroundings, but still be a prominent figure in the composition. Also referenced the background. EDIT: Yes, this was referenced off of yellowstone. It had perfect diagonals to create motion in the drawing, and lead your eye to the main character.

The background is intentionally painterly to help put it out of focus and bring attention to my foreground.

Symbolism: In the past, females have more actively been leaders; and their particular strengths have been recognized. To emphasize this I put the smilodoness in a tribe leader position. Additionally I added some prehistoric goddess symbols on her jewellery. A poor Neanderthal seems to have fallen victim. Perhaps it can be interpreted as she’s demonstrating her strength over man? ;)

Time Taken: 10 days, worked on it between 5-10 hours a day. It took particularly longer than usual because I’ve never’ve done an 8.5”x11” full-page marker rendering before.

Media Used: About 80% marker. Dr. Ph Martin’s pen ink, colored pencil, a bit of pastel.

Machairodont Matriarch by ~Art-of-Sekhmet "Look at that detail found in every millimetre of this picture, and the expression! Anatomy! Background! All of this done with very little references to go by, seeing as there are no smilodon's to reference off of today. One of my all-time personal favourites." Absolutely beautiful illustration- and the effort here really shows! (Suggested by =Avalik and Featured by ^Katmomma)

The Crazy wolfy with a shovel.

Dead I am the life, dig into the skin
Knuckle crack the bone, 21 to win
Dead I am the dog, hound of hell you cry
Devil on your back, I can never die

This is my line, this is eternal
How did I end up here?
Discarnate, preternatural
My prayers to disappear
Absent of grace, marked as infernal
Ungranted in dead time left me disowned
To this nature, so unnatural
I remain alone

Your art has truly improved so much. Your realism is just so stunning, along with your beautiful coloring. The detail of this is just mind blowing.

Beautiful job.

beautiful! the detail in this is amazing, and I love the "protector of the earth" connection because my character is very much a protector of the forest :) So I'm definitely attracted to that kind of thing ;) Anyway wonderful work!

JAYSUS.
This is marker?
It looks absolutely amazing, I for sure thought the background was watercolor.
You certainly have more patience than I, because I'd never be able to pull off something so intricate.
It'd be hour four of the second day when I'd have to say fuck it, lol.

Simpllly amazing, per usual. :3

Thank you very much!
I have patience, I guess. I set out to express a meaning in a lot of my pieces, so it keeps me more attatched and willing to finish it. Additionally, I try to challenge myself with each image, so Id like to do my best and inspire people
