SAPPHIRE: Symbol of peace, celestial harmony, self-control and truth. In some parts of the world, sapphire stones were thought to ward off evil.

This is part of a Precious Stones series I started in order to jump start my muse again. I am being didactic with the theme by linking the idea of the precious stone to the animal represented; in order to emphasize that animals are precious aswell. It bothers me how ignorant people tend reduce animals to the levels of objects. In the end, I think that we are not so special. Bottom line, we are animals too.

5"x7" on arches satin finish watercolor paper

EDIT: Initially forgot to mention that the Celtic knot work is not my design! Its a random one I found on Google!
